Artist Statement
I always wanted to be an artist and I painted for many years in my free time, commissions of pet portraits and landscapes of local scenes. Realising in my late
twenties I would have to take this step myself to become one , I started my own business.
Entering the world of Craft markets and Agriculture shows I painted my work on old milk churns and parlour buckets. I had nearly 10 years success at this
during which I painted many themes on the churns and cows were always a recurring request from my clients . So one day I painted one onto a canvas
and I have been painting them ever since.
There is something special about them, they are not just animals, they are individuals with their own personalities, that’s what I look for most when I paint them.
Most of my work is of them close up or with some kind of interaction when I photograph them. It’s what I love about them and what I work to capture for the viewer to see and feel along with me.
Each one of them I paint is a real individual that I met in person and had eye contact with, I just love to capture that little bit about them they tell you , they are more than just “an animal”
