It is almost impossible to view one of Jo’s pieces without smiling and have your mind working overtime creating your own ideas of the scene and the story behind it.

Jo always liked art from as young as she can remember and to everyone’s bemusement the first item on Christmas and Birthday lists was always a new sketch pad and a new set of pencils. Jo’s first experience of art was similar to a lot of young aspiring artists and involved drawing her favourite cartoon characters and usually a lot of pen and ink. It wasn’t long before the acrylics came into play and immediately it was obvious an artist was born.

Jo has spent a long time painting mainly on a commission basis, in a variety of different styles, and has in the past displayed in smaller galleries. It has been within the last year that Jo has really decided to focus with us at the gallery and concentrate on her biggest strength and the style she enjoys the most which is her current range of fun, character and situation based paintings and they have proven to be hugely popular with every single person that visits.

Jo’s current style at first glance looks like a lot of fun but as well as making you smile there is an incredible intelligence to each piece. Every new painting for Jo has its own little adventure and comes from experiences Jo has had of spending time with friends and situations that have stuck with her and inspired her to re-create them. After the scene is set in Jo’s mind she will then include an item familiar to us all and linked with the title of the piece the story is complete.
